Master Mariner
James is a Consultant Master Mariner with extensive experience as a Chief Officer on a variety of vessel types. He gained his Master’s certificate in 2007 having started his career as a deck rating.

James has experience is in the Offshore Industry and has been involved in periodic vessel structural class surveys and rig moves on board Semi-Submersible gangway connected flotel vessels.
He is qualified as OPITO LOLER competent person and has worked in heavy lifting operations offshore.
James has experience of conducting vessel inspections and acting as rig owners representative on board anchor handling vessels, witnessing and approving the installation of pre-lay anchors and associated ground tackle, timed tension testing and ROV surveys of subsea moorings.
James is also an experienced Passenger/Ro Ro Ferry Officer with 13 years on the busy Dover – Calais service and has served as Chief Officer during 4 dry dockings of these vessels.
James has also worked as a deck officer on board aggregate dredging vessels and UK military support ships. He has a strong health and safety background with experience of carrying out risk assessments and the administration and control of multiple permit to work operations.
