Alan is a Marine Engineer with extensive experience of operation, management and repair of Offshore construction, Saturation Diving support, Self-Propelled Jack up Wind Turbine Construction vessels. Management both onboard and ashore.

As technical superintendent managed vessel operations, drydocking, major vessel conversions, and re- commissioning into service. Breadth of experience with slow/medium speed diesel propulsion, medium /high voltage power generation systems. Detailed knowledge of drive systems, frequency controlled direct drive propulsion. and positioning thrusters including tunnel and azimuth designs. Operation and maintenance of Dynamic Positioning systems to category DP3, including accident/incident investigation.
As new building Superintendent negotiated contract specification, basic and detailed design approval, supervision of onsite new build team and attendance to factory acceptance testing and on to completion and sea trials prior to handover.
Recently within the renewables and oil and gas sectors, Alan gained considerable experience with operation, maintenance and repair of vessel cranes and large offshore construction cranes, (up to 800t), aboard wind turbine construction vessels. Management both onboard and ashore.
Alan’s recent experience includes accident and incident root cause investigation of ships crane damage due to contact with vessel and shore side structures. This includes evaluation of repair proposals, extent of damage, time frame required and costings to complete repairs.
