Structural Engineer

Mark is a chartered structural engineer with over 35 years’ experience in a range of projects including the design of offshore structures including fixed platforms, FPF topsides, mooring turrets and FPSO vessel structures. Mark is a member of IMarEST.

He has worked as a lead/senior engineer based in the UK, Norway and New Zealand and is conversant with all major structural design codes and standards. Having attended various fabrication yards in the UK, Norway, Holland and the Far East on many projects, he has a good knowledge of fabrication methods and practices.

He has worked as a senior project engineer for the transportation and installation engineering of a number of heavy lift projects utilising SSCVs and monohull vessels, and also STP buoy installation. Mark has extensive experience of installation methods, the design of grillage and seafastening for cargo barges, HTVs and HLV decks.

He has a wide knowledge of load-out methods, cargo barge mooring, handling and sail-away procedures which he gained from onsite attendance, and his work offshore during the project installation phases.

Mark is currently the project manager on the MWS contract for the decommissioning of a major North Sea oil platform, including one of the largest jackets to be removed to date. He has also performed structural engineering reviews as marine warranty surveyor on renewable energy projects and has undertaken structural engineering calculations for marine salvage projects.
