Associate Director :: Marine Engineer

Kenneth is a Chartered Engineer with over 20 years of experience working within the maritime sector predominantly in LNG. He is a member of the Institute of Marine and Electrical Service Technicians and holds a Class One Engineering certificate of competency gained through his sea-going experience on LNG and Oil Tankers.

During his 20 years with BP, Kenneth gained extensive knowledge of LNG shipping operations both at sea and ashore. Whilst ashore he held roles as an LNG Technical Superintendent, LNG Assurance Superintendent and latterly as a vetting and clearance superintendent.

As an LNG technical superintendent, he completed over 10 LNG dockings, compiling repair plan specifications for tender, assessing quotes, completing tank repairs and project managing all aspects of dry dock repairs and their implementation from conception to delivery. His practical experience covers a wide range of marine machinery and equipment including cargo containment systems, dual fuel engines, gas compressors, 2 stroke engines, 4 stroke diesel engines for main and auxiliary power, boilers, inert gas systems, cargo pumping systems, cargo refrigeration plant, fuel treatment plant and auxiliary machinery.

Kenneth has partaken in many HAZIDS and HAZOPS during the design and construction of the BP MEGI LNG and DFDE vessel builds, attending FAT’s and system commissioning.  Working predominantly on gas engines, Kenneth has been able to share his knowledge and expertise chairing industry workshops including, the owners DFDE forum and SIGTTO working groups in fuel operations and reliquefication operations.

Performing the role of LNG Assurance Superintendent Kenneth further expanded his LNG knowledge having supported trading wings on project appraisals, sales and purchase agreements and ship to shore compatibility studies. He is a QMS Auditor/Lead Auditor CQI & IRCA certified. This has been used to good effect in the appraisal of companies and vessels during his time as a vetting and clearance superintendent.

Kenneth has also mentored and trained superintendents and understands incident management having trained as an incident commander within the BP emergency response team.
