Arjen is a Master Mariner with over 35 years of maritime and offshore experience, including command at sea and a distinguished early career with the Netherlands Royal Navy. His extensive background spans offshore wind, oil and gas, and heavy marine operations, bringing a wealth of hands-on expertise to his role as Consultant Master Mariner at Waves Group.
Throughout his career, Arjen has been actively involved in offshore wind construction, commissioning, and maintenance campaigns, serving as Chief Officer and Master on Walk-to-Work (W2W), survey, and rock dumping vessels. His experience includes supporting complex subsea operations, cable protection, and logistics for both installation and maintenance phases of offshore wind projects.
Arjen has also undertaken vessel suitability and assurance surveys across a broad range of assets, including PSVs, AHTS, heavy-lift and installation vessels, CTVs, and tugs, assessing their operational readiness and compliance for offshore campaigns. His practical understanding of offshore operations and vessel performance underpins his contribution to marine warranty and assurance work.
Before joining Waves Group, Arjen worked as a Claims Handler with a leading marine insurance company, managing a wide portfolio of P&I cases involving merchant vessels, fishing vessels, and yachts. He has also held roles as a Marine and Nautical Instructor and Weather Forecaster, providing operational forecasts for offshore projects and voyage planning.
