Mechanical Engineer
Albert (Bertie) Taylor is a Mechanical Engineer with a First-Class Master’s degree (M.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester and over three years of experience in offshore energy systems.
His technical portfolio includes:
- Root cause and failure investigations
- Offshore cable design, analysis and installation support
- Mooring system assessment and pontoon analysis
- Modelling and simulation of offshore assets using OrcaFlex and FEA tools
- Feasibility studies and techno-economic assessments
- Application of international standards (DNV, CIGRE, ISO, API)
At Waves Group, he specialises in subsea cable engineering and offshore mechanical systems, supporting both consultancy and marine warranty surveying projects.
In addition to his engineering expertise, Bertie has worked with legal teams and loss adjusters on insurance and claims support, as well as directly with project developers to de-risk offshore energy projects. He has contributed to assignments across offshore wind, subsea infrastructure and the wider energy transition, delivering robust technical solutions throughout the project life cycle.
