This immersive three-day experience is designed for professionals in the maritime, insurance, and legal sectors who want to build a deeper, more practical understanding of marine operations, risk, and incident response.

What to Expect
The 2026 course will once again combine expert-led teaching with hands-on activities in unique, real-world settings. Previous participants have described it as “the perfect bridge between theory and practice.”
- Day One: Explore port layout, vessel gear, nautical operations, and fuels aboard the historic SS Shieldhall, the UK’s largest operational steamship, followed by a Solent boat tour and evening networking dinner.
- Day Two: Focus on marine risk, naval architecture, shipboard fires, and casualty response. Experience live fire exercises at Solent University’s Fire Centre to see first-hand the challenges faced at sea.
- Day Three: Train on state-of-the-art bridge simulators at the Maritime Simulation Campus, then gain exclusive insight into global incident preparedness with a behind-the-scenes tour of Oil Spill Response Ltd.
