Russell is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. His experience includes subsea construction for the oil and gas and offshore renewable energy sectors, as well as vessel design.
He has particular expertise in offshore installation analysis (typically using OrcaFlex software) and has extensive experience performing and verifying analyses for installation contractors, operators, and consultancies.
Russell has worked on numerous subsea construction projects around the world both onshore and offshore, in shallow to deep water, covering: full field development, deployment of structures, mooring system installation and hook-up, rigid and flexible pipe lay, umbilical and cable lay.
Russell has considerable experience with offshore renewable energy projects, performing marine warranty surveys, procedures development and reviewing procedures and analysis as client engineer, as well as investigating specific technical issues (such as cable bird caging). He has extensive experience with subsea power cable laying, having worked with and for installation contractors, developers and as MWS.
